Activities & Services

Activities and Services

In addition to the classes that we offer, there are an array of other activities and services available through our group.

Teacher’s Lounge – No this is not a smoke-filled room with gossip aplenty. Formerly known as our Mom’s Room, the Teacher’s Lounge ministers to you, our teachers. We have renamed this ministry area as we have found not just moms, but also dads and grandparents attracted to the supportive environment, encouragement, and information shared here. Some things that you will find in place of the cigarette smoke and gossip in our Teacher’s Lounge are devotions, prayer time, fellowship, sharing between parents about their homeschooling experiences, and speakers that address issues related to curriculum, meeting special needs within your homes, homeschooling through high school, and home management while homeschooling to name a few.

Athletic Teams – The Georgetown Homeschool Group is home to the Georgetown Crusaders. Both our Men’s Crusaders Basketball team and the Ladies' Crusaders Volleyball team are available to students in grades 5 through 12. These teams play in a private Christian School league. Practices and home games are local, but some travel is required for away games.

Graduation Ceremonies – Our group hosts both kindergarten and high school graduation ceremonies for our students during our evening spring program each year. This is a special time of joining with our families in celebrating their achievements and milestones.

School Pictures – Each year, the Georgetown Homeschool Group partners with Lifetouch pictures to provide traditional school pictures to families that desire them. Class pictures are also taken for student keepsakes. The photos from Lifetouch are incorporated into our annual yearbook.

Yearbook – A school yearbook is compiled and made available to students each year. This year our high school students will be involved in the design and compiling of photos and act as journalists that will capture the latest happenings and achievements of our group.

Expo – Do you remember participating in Science Fair as a student yourself? Expo at the Georgetown Homeschool Group is not only a science fair competition, but also allows students to showcase their work in needlework, cooking, construction, art, music, and spelling. Awards from these competitions are presented at a formal awards ceremony.

Community Service Team – New to the Georgetown Homeschool Group this year is the introduction of our Community Service Team. This team will encourage students to consider their responsibility to their fellow man while formally recording community service hours. If you are encouraging your child to take his eyes off of self more and onto others, the Community Service Team may be part of your answer.

Field Day – At the end of each academic year, all of our students cheer to hear the words “Field Day”. Traditional field day events are hosted such as the three-legged race, 50-yard dash, standing long jump, softball toss, obstacle course, and sack races. A fun time is had by all from our 3-year olds through our high school students.
