Our group’s website has been established and continues to change and develop as our year progresses. It can be found at www.GeorgetownHomeschoolGroup.com. The purpose of our website is threefold: to create a community presence so that individuals in the surrounding communities will be able to connect with us as a resource, to promote homeschooling as a high quality option to either a public school or private school education, and to be a community resource for information on homeschooling.
Georgetown Homeschool Group’s Facebook Page:
The group’s Facebook page, listed as Georgetown Homeschool Group with our banner similar to the one on the top of this page, is designed and maintained to be a community resource for homeschooling information. Individuals may choose to be a member of our Facebook group whether they attend our Monday meetings or not. There are administrators for this group that will grant privileges to those that wish to join. The Facebook page will be used as a platform to keep members of this group advised of upcoming events of interest as well as a discussion platform related to homeschooling. It is our plan to share notes and information from the presentations in the Teacher’s Lounge each week as discussions so that those outside our group as well as our own members that may teach or monitor on a given Monday may have access to this information as well. This platform allows us to incorporate pictures, videos, and internet links to discussions enhancing the value of the discussions and topics.
GeorgetownHomeschoolTeachersLounge Yahoo Group:
The Yahoo Group will be our communication platform for sending out mass emails to the group. This communication tool will be limited to those families that are an active part of our Monday meetings during the 2009-2010 school year. Prayer requests and updates from the Teacher’s Lounge will be posted to this group by Kim Evans each week. The Yahoo Group will also be our hosting platform for group photos from co-op activities, field trips, our athletic teams, and special programs. To join this group, please go to www.groups.yahoo.com and then do a search for GeorgetownHomeschoolTeachersLounge. You can then request to join this group. Logins for our previous HomeschoolMomsRoom yahoo group did not carry over, so please reregister to be a part of this new group.
