Guidelines and Codes

The Georgetown Homeschool Group is a homeschool cooperative based on Christian principles and the inerrant Word of God. We are not affiliated with a particular denomination within the Body of Christ and do not provide instruction in doctrine. Those wishing to attend our group are not required to be proclaimed Christians. However, because the group is founded on Christian beliefs, all members must acknowledge and abide by the group’s Statement of Faith, Code of Conduct, and Dress Code. These documents do not exist in name only, but are used to outline acceptable behavior by members of the group any time that they are representing the Georgetown Homeschool Group. This includes, but is not limited to, co-op meetings, athletic team events, community service activities, and field trips.

Please scroll down through this document for copies of these important codes. You may also click the title of the document you wish to see in order to go directly to it.

Statement of Faith

This group is a Christian organization. The group's enrichment and instruction activities shall be governed by the Statement of Faith.

1. We believe that the Bible is the only written Word of God. It is divinely inspired, inerrant, and infallible. We have chosen the King James Version for all teachers and students to use for co-op assignments.

2. We believe that all things in the universe were created and made by God in the six literal days of the creation week described in Genesis 1:1-2:3 and confirmed in Exodus 20:8-11. All theories of origins, which involve evolution, are false.

3. We believe that there is one living and true God; an infinite, intelligent Spirit, perfect in all His attributes, one in essence but eternally subsistent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

4. We believe in the fall of man; although originally created in the image of God, through the disobedience of Adam, man fell into a sinful and spiritually impotent state, totally unable to justify himself before God.

5. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus; in His virgin birth; and sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross; in His resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory.

6. We believe that salvation is wholly of God, by grace; that God in love gave His only Son to die on the cross for sin, thus procuring the redemption of those who come to Him; that this salvation is not merited in anyway by man; that God commands men everywhere to repent of sin and believe in Christ.

While it is not necessary for participants of this group to believe this statement of faith in whole or in part, it is necessary for parents to understand that this group will be governed by this statement of faith.

Code of Conduct

The following conduct will be expected by all students:

- Show Godly respect for all teachers and any adults student may come into contact with. OBEY!

- Show courtesy to others, teachers, and classmates by taking turns, sharing, using polite conversation, and being helpful. Students will be sent to the Parent's Room if necessary.

- Participate in class. Be willing to answer questions, do assignments, be on time, and do one's best.

- Respect for classmates. No name calling, cutting remarks, or joking which would be hurtful to others.

- Running will be restricted to the gymnasium. Students must not climb on basketball goals.

- Students should be very quiet while traveling through hallways - especially near the offices.

- No public displays of affection between boys and girls.

- All electronic equipment (CD player, game boy, other electronic games, etc) must remain off campus. Cell phones and pagers must be turned off during class time.

- The hallway to main sanctuary is off limits.

- Language should always be God-honoring, completely free from any hint of cursing, rudeness, or disrespect. Show respect for the building and church property. Building cleanliness and arrangement of property is to be maintained and left at least as good as it was found.

- No conduct which would mar or damage property will be allowed.

- Knives, guns, or any type of weapon are not allowed on the church premises or at any co-op activity.

- If a disciplinary situation arises between a teacher and student, a monitor and student, or among classmates, it may be necessary for a parent to enter the learning environment to sit with their child. If that child is involved in two disciplinary situations in one day, the parent will remain with the child the remainder of the day. Record will be made of these occurrences. If your child is involved in three disciplinary situations, he/she will not be permitted to attend co-op the following Monday. If he/she is involved in a total of six disciplinary situations throughout the school year, they will not be able to participate in this organization. Refunding or discounting tuition fees will not apply.

Co-op leadership and staff realize that children will do things that might require them to be called down (to be quiet, to sit still, to raise their hand before speaking, etc). These situations are considered as normal behavior within the learning environment. We are much more concerned with those circumstances where children are disrespectful to their teachers and classmates (in word or deed) - such as blatant disrespect, cursing, fighting, etc.

By signing below, you acknowledge that you understand the guidelines. Please discuss these guidelines with your children as well.

Dress Code

The dress code for the Georgetown Home School Group is as follows:

We are fairly open in what we allow to be worn to the co-op on Mondays as well as to co-op related events. We have very few restrictions but do expect them to be followed.

1. The children are free to wear shorts but of a modest length. Shorts should be at least AS LONG as the point where a child's middle finger rests upon their leg when their arms are hanging loose by their side.

2. No belly shirts. No halter tops. No midriffs. No mini-skirts. No tight clothing (pants, tops, skirts, dresses, etc). Tops must come down to about 3 inches below the waist band. We realize that it is the fad at this time to wear tops that barely cover the top of one's pants or fall just above the waistband of jeans, etc. exposing one's tummy. Yet when a young lady raises her arms or bends over, her tummy is going to be exposed. It has been witnessed first hand that this type of dress draws attention from the young men (Matthew 5:28). Please dress modestly. (I Timothy 2:9). No saggy, baggy shorts or pants that expose one’s undergarments

3. No clothing or accessory that has vulgar or unkind writing, pictures, etc. No body piercings (excluding girl’s pierced ears). Should a student have a body piercing (other than girl’s pierced ears) jewelry must be removed before coming to co-op.

4. If your child comes to co-op dressed inappropriately, it will be noted. You will receive a copy of the report. After his/her second occurrence of dressing inappropriately, he/she will not be permitted to attend co-op the following Monday. If he/she has a total of three warnings throughout the school year, they will not be able to participate in this organization. Refunding or discounting tuition fees will not apply.
