Welcome to the Georgetown Homeschool Group!

First established in 1998, the Georgetown Homeschool Group continues to provide opportunities for homeschooled children and their parents in a Christian atmosphere.  We believe that parents are the best teachers for their children.  With this focus, it is our desire to supplement and not replace what you are accomplishing at home in your child’s education.  Many of the classes we offer are those that are hard to offer at home, because they are the most conducive to a larger group setting and participation level.

A second, equally important, ministry of the Georgetown Homeschool Group is in reaching out with a supportive hand to the adults who are so effectively training up their children and grandchildren.  Our Teacher’s Lounge is a forum where parents and grandparents can meet during the children’s classes for seminars, speakers, fellowship, and prayer.
 
Parental involvement is key.  Many of our teachers are parents of children in our program who love to teach and have the expertise to serve in a particular area.  Our parents help in the planning of special events and will be serving hand in hand with our board members on decision-making committees that will shape the direction of the co-op into the future.  At the Georgetown Homeschool Group, parents have a voice!  If you are your child’s best advocate and instructor at home, you most certainly have incredible gifts that can be used in growing and developing the ministry and outreach of our group.

Classes for our children range from our preschool division for those 3 to 4 years old all the way up through high school.  We are very excited to introduce our new middle school program this year that will specifically address the needs and interests of this age group.  Although we do not provide instruction in core curriculum, you will appreciate the varied course selections available to your high school student to be used in developing life skills and addressing electives requirements on his or her transcripts.  It is our focus to help round out your child’s academic record to make him or her even more desirable to college admissions counselors or administrative staff at technical schools.
